Air Management Systems
No matter how good the design of the fume cupboard is, safe operation is critically reliant on the performance of the extraction and air make-up systems.
Fume Extraction
Fume extraction systems are most commonly installed using uPVC material. Preformed duct and fittings are used on sizes up to and including 600 mm diameter. Rectangular ductwork and circular ductwork fittings above 600 mm diameter are fabricated from sheet material. All joints are fusion welded. Where necessary due to fire regulations and for additional rigidity, ductwork can be G.R.P coated.
Fume extraction systems can also be installed utilising Polypropylene ductwork and fittings. Extraction fans have vacuum formed Polypropylene casings and injection moulded forward curved impellers. The units are suitable for either single or three phase electrical supply and can be directly driven or with indirect drive via ‘V’ belts and pulleys. All fume extraction systems conform to the specifications contained in DW 154, LGC 1614 and BS7258.
